Program Note:
Elisions is a collection of four contrasting parts. The first is inspired by the music of Lachemann, and focuses on the idea of a slow build that contains an argument between the soprano and piano, only really heard after the first gesture. The second explores the soprano’s beautiful lyrical altissimo capabilities while it sings over an active piano texture. The third is a multiple tonguing drone movement with interruptions by the piano, and the last is largely textural and inspired by the music of Ligeti and Philip Glass.
