Program Note:

State Change was written as a way for me to work through my anxieties about my first ever real winter in Michigan.  Being from Texas, I wasn't used to snow or extreme cold temperatures and constantly craved the warmth from the sun.  Similarly, this piece tries to heat up solid blocks of juxatoposed musical material that eventually gain too much energy and lose control, becoming gaseous by the end.
